SEPT-ÎLES, April 7, 2022 – The Port of Sept-Îles is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Mr. Bernard Lynch and Ms. Nancy Jourdain as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Sept-Îles, respectively.
Mr. Lynch, now retired, worked as a litigator specializing in criminal and penal litigation for the North Shore Community Legal Centre from 1999 to 2019. A native of Sept-Îles, he has recognized expertise in negotiation and strategic positioning, particularly with regard to economic and environmental issues. Mr. Lynch has been a member of the Port of Sept-Îles Board of Directors since 2019, having been appointed by the Minister of Transport Canada on the recommendation of Port users.
Ms. Jourdain was a lawyer in private practice at Cain Lamarre for ten years before joining the Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-Utenam Band Council as Director, Legal Services and Human Resources, and Information Technology in 2009. She has extensive experience in law, human resources management, IT and strategic planning. Ms. Jourdain has been a member of the Port of Sept-Îles Board of Directors since 2017 having been appointed by the Minister of Transport Canada.
The other members of the Board of Directors are :
– Ms. Mirka Boudreau, appointed on the recommendation of Port users to the Minister of Transport Canada;
– Mr. Serge Lévesque, appointed on the recommendation of Port users to the Minister of Transport Canada;
– Mr. Jean-François Bonneau, appointed by the City of Sept-Îles;
– Mr. Gilles Couture, appointed by the Quebec Minister of Transport.

His experience as a seasoned businessman and his vision of development contributed greatly to the many achievements of the Port of Sept-Îles over these years. At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mr. Jean-François Bonneau, who joins us in April 2021, and Mr. Gilles Couture, newly appointed last February,” declared Mr. Lynch and Ms. Jourdain, Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman of the Port of Sept-Îles Board of Directors.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Following its annual strategic planning activity, the Board of Directors and the entire Port of Sept-Îles team adopted new strategic objectives based on the organization’s desire to maintain its role as a leader in sustainable, innovative development in its community, for its users and on the St. Lawrence. Restoration of the Mgr-Blanche terminal, built in 1960, will be one of the priorities, to make it more accessible and pleasant for both the general public and cruise passengers. Always focused on the importance of preserving the environment and the health of the Bay of Sept-Îles, the Port of Sept-Îles intends to be a mobilizing agent in the current wave of energy transition, by promoting initiatives aimed at developing green energy projects and decarbonization in the region.
