THE MARITIME INFORMATION BUREAU ADDS INFORMATION ON OIL SHIPPING

In order to make the Maritime Information Bureau (MIB) a source of objective, up-to-the-minute information, SODES recently added oil shipping-related content.

Produced to provide comprehensive information, the texts added address tanker safety and requirements governing oil shipping, the applicable regulations, stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities in case of a spill and the compensation regime.

Statistics are presented to illustrate the significant improvement, over the past 10 years, in safety surrounding oil transport and to highlight the advantages shipping offers.

This content is available on the MIB website in the relevant sections, that is, Marine Safety and Prevention and Intervention.
A fact sheet grouping all of this data has also been added in the Documentation section.

Since the MIB is a reliable, factual information source, all data has been taken from official sources, each of which is cited in the sections concerned.
