Trois-Rivières, July 25, 2017 – The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES) invites the people of Québec City and environs to visit its travelling exhibition of artistic marine-sector photos at the Hector-Louis Langevin park from July 25 to August 14. This very unique exhibition, developed by SODES and designed by EXMURO arts publics, features photos of marine infrastructures displayed in an art gallery set up inside a shipping container.
In 2016, SODES had the idea to create a photo exhibition artistically spotlighting marine infrastructures that would travel throughout Québec every summer to show the public industrial sites from a different viewpoint. A professional photographer went to various venues to immortalize ships, port terminals, ports and locks. Under the impetus of EXMURO arts publics, the exhibition’s basic structure took the form of a shipping container reworked into an art gallery as a nod to its maritime character.
“We are very proud of this shipping container photo exhibition. Not only is the showing unique, it introduces the public to industrial sites artfully and playfully. This is an opportunity for us to get people interested in the marine industry” said SODES President and CEO Nicole Trépanier.
Brought to you by ship – My river, my provider!
The exhibition is part of the marine industry promotional campaign Brought to you by ship – My river, my provider! coordinated by SODES. Its goal is to make the Québec public aware of the important role the marine industry plays in our daily lives and remind Quebeckers that the majority of the items surrounding us are delivered by ship and have travelled the St. Lawrence.
SODES would like to thank the Port of Trois-Rivières for hosting this travelling photo exhibition. After its run here, the shipping container will move to different cities across the province until the fall. Follow that container!:
