In addition to rounding out the informational resources available on the Maritime Information Bureau (MIB) website, SODES is working on updating existing fact sheets.
For these fact sheets, which fall under the broad themes presented on the website–Economy, Environment, Marine Safety, Prevention and Intervention and Technologies–a new editorial direction has been taken.
In future, in addition to highlighting the main thrusts of each theme, the fact sheets will present complementary data and information to enrich documentation of each issue.
The new-and-improved fact sheet on the marine industry economy presents the marine industry’s contribution to the Québec economy (in figures) and provides an overview of the port network, navigation on the St. Lawrence and the cargo carried on it.
The data and information presented are taken from reliable, official sources, each of which is cited directly under the information in question.
