Québec City, June 26, 2019 – The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES) is pleased to announce that Québec Port Authority President and CEO Mario Girard was unanimously elected Chairman of the SODES Board of Directors.
Mr. Girard is known for his vision and ability to successfully build and mobilize working teams in carrying out large-scale projects. A certified company administrator (ASC), Mr. Girard has sat on the boards of private, public and listed companies for over 20 years.
He was Chair of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) in 2016 and 2017, is currently Vice-President of the Association internationale Villes-Ports (worldwide network of port cities–AIVP) and sits on the boards of directors of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) and the Roméo Dallaire Foundation. He was President and CEO of the Fondation de l’entrepreneurship from 2008 to 2011, contributing to the widespread mobilization of the business community and governments to improve entrepreneurial performance in Québec. He created and headed the two IT companies Nstein Technologies (2001-2007) and Gespro Technologies (1985-2001), both of which were successful internationally.
SODES is pleased to be able to count on his leadership and mobilizing capacity to successfully move its files forward.
Officer nominations
The positions of Board Vice-Chairman and Secretary will be filled following a call for nominations to all directors over the summer. The Governance and Human Resources Committee will analyze the nominations received before the next Board meeting in order to make its recommendations. The Board will nominate candidates to these two positions in September.
