The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES) presented Green Marine’s executive director, David Bolduc, with the XXI St. Lawrence Award. Bolduc was announced as the recipient last night at the Québec National Assembly during a cocktail reception for Québec Marine Day.
The St. Lawrence Award is presented annually to an organization, company or individual who has stood out over the past year by making an exceptional contribution to or realizing a project that advances the St. Lawrence region’s economic development while encompassing the principles of sustainable development. An independent jury of leading individuals in their respective fields outside the marine industry chooses the award’s recipient.
“David has been involved in the marine industry for 10 years,” said SODES’s president, Nicole Trépanier, in presenting the award. “His commitment, dedication and professionalism have led Green Marine this year – the fifth consecutive year of its participants evaluating their environmental performance – to remarkable success.” Green Marine’s influence well beyond the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes regions, where the program was originally intended, shows the efforts to recruit new members and expand the environmental program throughout the North American continent.
Bolduc expressed his delight. “I am grateful to receive the St. Lawrence Award, especially because it represents industry recognition,” he said. “This is an honour to be shared with all of the Green Marine participants who demonstrate year after year their willingness to improve their environmental performance, and to invest their time and energy to develop and improve the Green Marine environmental program.” For its 2013 edition, the St. Lawrence Award was revamped. Eligibility criteria were revised in keeping with SODES’s core goals: namely, to improve the marine industry’s image and visibility, and to show the industry’s openness to others.
