For years now, the St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES) has been closely monitoring the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) icebreaking fleet renewal file and has expressed its concerns regarding this situation many times. The condition of the increasingly aging, obsolete icebreaking fleet threatens to significantly affect icebreaking services to be provided by the CCG on the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers.
