Sodes welcomes the federal government’s commitment to the Port of Montreal’s Contrecoeur expansion project

Quebec City, October 10, 2023 – The Société de développement économique du Saint-Laurent (Sodes) is delighted that the federal government has granted $150 million for the Montreal Port Authority’s container terminal expansion project in Contrecoeur.

In a context where global shipping activities are expected to grow considerably, reinforcing the capacity and intermodal accessibility of facilities and infrastructures remains one of the current challenges for the maritime industry in Quebec.

“This investment represents a major step forward in improving the fluidity of the supply chain, while consolidating the strategic positioning of the St. Lawrence corridor as a vector of economic development for Canada,” emphasizes Mathieu-St-Pierre, President and CEO of Sodes.
