Enviro-Actions Symposium

Innovations and tools for preventive environmental management in port areas

The Centre d’Expertise Industrialo-Portuaire (CEIP), a division of INREST, is joining forces with Réseau Québec maritime, the Institut France-Québec maritime and the Société de développement économique du Saint-Laurent to present the Enviro-Actions Symposium, to be held in Sept-Îles in May 2024.

Given the growing footprint of human activities on marine environments, industrial and port areas can become major sources of disturbance. In a context of sustainable human development and ecosystem conservation, support for innovation and scientific research is crucial to achieving short- and long-term environmental objectives.

The Enviro-Actions symposium will bring together Québec, Canadian and international harbour authority managers, industry, municipal and government representatives, and scientists to share concrete preventive environmental actions focused on sustainable anthropogenic development and ecosystem conservation around four main themes.

At the end of the Symposium, priority environmental actions will be identified through consultation with participants, with a view to submitting to provincial and federal governments a list of Enviro-Actions strongly recommended for implementation by 2030 in port and industrial zones. The aim of this approach is to ensure that the government targets for contaminant reduction by 2030 are met.
